Being a wedding photographer I love to see and photograph emotion. Often, I’m in a privileged position, a ‘fly on the wall’ and I witness incredible moments, such as the father of the bride seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. Emotions can also run high during the ceremony, both for the couple, family and close friends.

I think we still have a degree of the British, ‘stiff upper lip’, but, do you know what? Let it go, it’s OK to cry. I have photographed many weddings and have never known anyone to make an adverse comment about someone showing their emotions. With so much love in the air, why not? Nothing shows love more than not being afraid to show your emotions. Just make sure you have the tissues handy!

As the father of a newly engaged daughter, I know when her big day comes I’ll be crying like a baby. To be honest I may have shed the odd tear during emotional moments while photographing my couple’s weddings.
